Anthony Horton, principal for sophomores and seniors at the high school, said the senior class of 2011 is filled with success stories.
“We had three National Merit finalists,” said Horton. “One student had a perfect ACT score. Many students had full rides to different colleges because of academics and athletics. We had a lot of great leaders … these kids have been phenomenal. I am totally pleased with the kids.”
Instead of having a valedictorian and salutatorian, the high school recognizes the top ten honor students from the entire graduating class.
“Having a top ten gives kids more opportunity,” Horton explains. “We have so many great kids here and sometimes they are really close to each other academically. It gives us a chance to recognize more of them.”
