Man Takes 'God's Water' From Resident's Lake

The following information was supplied by the Stow Police Department.

Man Takes 'God's Water' From Resident's Lake

Monday morning, a 70-year-old Stow woman called after noticing a man pumping water from a lake on her property.

The woman said the man was in a company car and claimed his company was installing fiber optic cable in the area, according to officers.  The man further advised the woman that "God put the water here for everyone," the report stated.

The man then left before police arrived.

The woman, who lives at the 660 block of East Steels Corners Rd., told police she was unable to get the complete name of the company. She had asked the man for a business card several times, but he refused to provide one, the report said.

Theft in this situation is a fifth-degree felony and criminal trespassing is a fourth-degree misdemeanor.

Police Lt. Anne Stirm previously explained a theft could be classified as a felony in certain situations where a crime was committed against a senior citizen.
