Police Blotter: Curb-Painting Scam, Thefts, Harassment

Suspicious activity

A caregiver for an elderly resident on the 10600 block of Scottsdale Drive told police that a man was passing our pink fliers saying he would be in the neighborhood the next day to paint addresses on the curb and asking residents to leave money in the front porch. Police said someone going by the same name, Don Metz, was doing the same thing in North Royalton, and it appears to be a scam. Local media have reported on similar incidents.

• A juvenile was caught shoplifting at at about 2 p.m. Aug. 7. He was released to his mother.

• Two juveniles were held on shoplifting charges at at about 7 p.m. Aug. 7.

A resident on the 20000 block of Great Oaks Lane told police someone has been toilet-papering her yard, sending her anonymous letters and leaving dog feces in her mailbox. She told police on Aug. 7 that she believes three families may be responsible for the harassment.
