Rumors are flying about the next tenant at the vacant Borders store on Royalton Road.

But there's no official word yet on who it will be.

Strongsville Economic Development Director Brent Painter confirmed that a potential tenant is eyeing the site.

"The city is in contact with a real estate agent, and they're currently in lease negotiations," Painter said.

The Strongsville Borders closed in September after the company  it was liquidating all its merchandise and fixtures.

The company declared bankruptcy in February and closed 200 of its 642 stores nationwide earlier last year, including locations in  and Medina. Strongsville’s location was spared during the first round of closures.

Readers have contacted Strongsville Patch with rumors about various businesses moving into Borders, mainly food stores.

Painter said he can't confirm or deny the rumors at this time.
