Beaverton Soldier Found Dead

Sergeant John Andrew Stobbe was found in his home off base on Sunday.

Sergeant John Andrew Stobbe, 31, of Beaverton and assigned to Fort Hood, was found dead in his home off-base Sunday, Army officials said.

Stobbe was found unresponsive. The cause of death is under investigation.

He joined the army in September 2004 and had been assigned to 1st Battalion, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Calvary Division at Fort Hood since June 2014.

Stobbe did three tours in Iraq: December 2005 to November 2006, June 2008 to May 2009, and September 2010 to August 2011.

He was also deployed to South Korea twice.

Stabbed received several honors including the Joint Service Commendation Medal, four Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, five Iraq Campaign Medals with campaign stars, and the Combat Action Badge.
