Immigration Protests at PDX - Day Two
Hundreds show up to voice displeasure of President Trump's executive order. They are joined by several elected officials.
Hundreds of protesters including a handful of elected officials showed up at Portland International Airport for a second straight day to voice displeasure with President Trump's executive order limiting visits to the United States by the residents of seven predominantly Muslim countries. Unlike the Saturday protest, on Sunday, things turned a little violent.
A person participating in a pro-Trump counter-protest was knocked down and possibly knocked unconscious. The person was taken away to be treated. It's not known how badly he was injured.
That was the only discordant note in an otherwise peaceful protest.

The protesters - again mixing chants of No Ban with No Wall - heard from several elected officials including Senator Jeff Merkley.
"Lady Liberty is crying," Merkely said in a statement. "The quote at her base says, 'Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses' - it doesn’t say, 'if you’re of one religion or another.'

"Rather than degrading our foundational principle of religious freedom, we must stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our Muslim brothers and sisters."
Representative Suzanne Bonamici was also there. She had spoken with one constituent from Hillsboro whose wife is supposed to arrive this week but now he does not know what will happen.
"He is so concerned and afraid and doesn't know what is going to happen," she told the crowd. "This is affecting people's lives across the country. It's wrong and it's not the United States of America that we stand for.
Not every politician was greeted with open arms.
Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler who found himself clashing with protesters in the city earlier this week over how the Portland Police Bureau handled protests on Inauguration Day.
They tried to shout him down, asking him where his permit was.
