Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Mykhaylo Gopka, 20, of Oliver Road, Huntingdon Valley, was arrested July 7 at 12:05 a.m. at a DUI checkpoint in the 700 block of Huntingdon Pike, police said. According to police, Gopka’s vehicle smelled of marijuana and there was a marijuana grinder in plain view. Police found 0.30 grams of confirmed marijuana in the vehicle’s center console along with a blue water pipe in Gopka’s backpack, police said.
Possession of a small amount of marijuana … Paul Warren Howard, 18, of Susquehanna Road, Abington; and Philip P. Klabe, 25, of Cherry Street, Willow Grove, were arrested July 6 at 11:11 p.m. at a DUI checkpoint in the 700 block of Huntingdon Pike, police said. According to police, there was a cellophane wrapper containing 0.93 grams of marijuana on the rear floor behind the driver’s seat at the feet of Klabe; police also found 0.63 grams of marijuana in the vehicle’s center console.
Possession of a controlled substance … Jene Tate, 24, of Maryland Road, Willow Grove, was arrested July 6 at 11:39 p.m. at a DUI checkpoint in the 700 block of Huntingdon Pike in which she was a passenger, police said. According to police, the vehicle smelled of marijuana and there was a grinder with marijuana residue under the parking brake. Following a search, police found a glass pipe with burnt residue in the driver’s side door card as well as a glass pipe commonly used for smoking crack, and a syringe in the passenger side door card. There were also several plastic bags with an image of the devil on them, which contained heroin residue. According to police, Tate said that all of the items were hers, including the pipe in the driver’s side door card.
Possession of a controlled substance and careless driving … Nikolaus Jarkowsky, 19, of Central Avenue, Glenside, was arrested July 5 at 9:31 p.m. after he was seen rolling something in his fingers while parked at a gas station in the corner of Susquehanna and Easton roads; he then left the gas station and turned right into the Abington Junior High School parking lot — striking the curb in the process, police said. According to police, Jarkowsky’s eyes were glassy and bloodshot and he had dilated pupils. There was a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and he said, “I have a little weed in my backpack and in the cup.” Police found a blunt in a cup in the cup holder and a bag of marijuana in a backpack.
DUI … Brian Barder, 53, of South Avenue, Wyncote, was arrested June 28 at 9:50 p.m. following a traffic stop for not using a turn signal near the corner of Jenkintown and Wharton roads, police said. According to police, Barder smelled of alcohol, had glassy and bloodshot eyes, failed a field sobriety test and had a blood alcohol content of 0.156 percent.
Possession of a controlled substance … Joseph Greer, 44, of Carnation Avenue, Willow Grove, was arrested June 27 at 9:24 p.m. following a call by Willow Grove Park mall security for a man acting suspiciously — he had fallen asleep in the mall after engaging in suspicious behavior in the bathroom, police said. During the pedestrian stop, police found a capped hypodermic needle in Greer’s pants pocket and two orange pills later determined to be buprenorphine and naloxone, police said.
Possession of a controlled substance … Shane Malbacias, 24, of Shelmire Avenue, Philadelphia, was arrested June 24 at 11:49 p.m. after he was seen standing next to a silver Jeep Compass that was parked with its engine running on a lawn and partially on the sidewalk near the corner of Meetinghouse Road and Huntingdon Pike, police said. According to police, Malbacias had slurred speech, had trouble with his motor skills and his eyes did not respond to light; he also said he was in “Northeast Philly.” When police removed the Jeep from the lawn, they saw a red glassine bag with four pills, later determined to be 1.17 grams of methylenedioxypyrovalerone or MDPV, a hallucinogen with stimulant properties, where Malbacias was standing.
DUI … Scott Gies, 24, of Passmore Street, Philadelphia, was arrested in the above incident, police said. According to police, he failed a field sobriety test and his blood tested positive for the presence of phencyclidine, or PCP.
