Truck Carrying 20 Tons Of Ice Cream Overturns On PA's I-80
The crash closed a portion of Interstate 80 in western Pennsylvania when 39,000 pounds of ice cream spilled onto the highway.

CLARION COUNTY, PA — A portion of Interstate 80 in western Pennsylvania closed for several hours Wednesday after a tractor-trailer overturned, spilling nearly 20 tons of ice cream across the westbound lanes.
The crash happened around 12:45 a.m. along the Emlenton Bridge in Emlenton, according to a Facebook post from the Emlenton Fire Department.
According to officials, the truck was carrying 39,000 pounds of ice cream, or about 19.5 tons.

The crash prompted officials to close the road for approximately 3 hours while crews cleaned up the spill, the fire department said.
No injuries were reported.

The crash was hardly the first in Pennsylvania that ended in snacks or other unique cargo scattered across the highway.
In April 2022, disaster struck on southbound Route 309 in Bucks County when a tractor-trailer flipped and spilled 40,000 pounds of chicken nuggets onto the roadway, according to multiple reports.
A month later, part of Interstate 70 south of Pittsburgh was closed after a semi-truck overturned, spilling more than 7 tons of hot dog filler on the highway.
But things went bananas in January 2022 when a truck carrying about 100 monkeys was involved in a crash in Montour County. At least three of the monkeys escaped the vehicle, authorities said. The monkeys were later found but had to be euthanized.
