Pennsylvania Weather: Initial Snowfall Estimates For Weekend Storm

Despite a high temperature in the 60s expected Friday, forecasters say it is increasingly likely we're in store for a weekend winter storm.

The ground may be white on the first day of spring.

Even though the high temperature Friday is expected to be in the 60s, forecasters say it is increasingly likely the region will get hit with some snow overnight Saturday into Sunday.

The National Weather Service predicts about four inches could fall in Philadelphia and surrounding counties, including in Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery. The NWS is expected to release more details on accumulation predictions later Friday.

The Weather Channel, which says the storm is a potential nor'easter that could come with heavy, wet snow, is currently predicting as much as three inches could fall in the Philadelphia region. Snow is expected to fall in the western part of the state but little accumulation is anticipated there.

Snow will likely begin late Saturday night and fall through Sunday and even into Monday morning, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures will be close to freezing, so the precipitation may fall as snow or as a cold rain.

If we do have snow, it will likely be a "heavy wet snow," sticking to trees and power lines, according to the National Weather Service.
