Backpack Stolen From Car, Police Say

Lower Merion police relayed the following incidents to news media at a Monday briefing. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Theft from vehicle: A black backpack containing a checkbook, credit cards and a cell phone was stolen from the car of an Overbrook Hills resident on Feb. 23, police said. According to the report, the owner had left the bag in her trunk, then driven into Philadelphia and back; after parking her car around 3 p.m. on the 100 block of Rolling Road, she realized at 6:30 p.m. her backpack was missing.  The victim did not remember if she had locked the car, according to the report.

Public drunkenness: A 46-year-old Ardmore man was cited for public drunkenness at 2:54 a.m. Feb. 21. An officer on patrol saw the man stumbling along Rittenhouse Place near E Athens Avenue. He registered .101 percent blood alcohol content on a preliminary breath test, police said.
