We asked, you answered. This week's historical photo challenge asked readers to taken in Ardmore.
For those with a sharp eye, the answer was simple: the photo was taken on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore at the site of the . The "Talone Cleaners" sign was a tipoff, as that building and the adjacent storefronts—sold in 2006 to Infiniti of Ardmore to use as a parking lot—were razed in 2007 so Infiniti could expand its dealership.
Talone Cleaners had been located on Lancaster Avenue in Ardmore for over 100 years.
Also on this site was Herb Davis's bicycle shop, which some long-time Ardmore residents may remember.
Patch user recalls:
That bike shop was owned by the late Herb Davis. His shop was so disorganized, but he knew where everything was! He was a very nice guy, and also a member of my church (First Baptist Ardmore). It was in the building on the far right, left side. Bought my bike there years ago. Still have it.
Kudos to , and for correctly guessing the location of this week's photo.
Check back Monday for a new historical photo challenge.
