The Race for Peace Committee's goal is to create a positive change in the way we think and do by creating open communication between all parties, according to the website.

"No one person is able to make this change," the website says. "It is a group effort that will help the community at large be better in the long run. It takes joint support from the police, clergy, politicians, community leaders, and citizens."
