Montgomery County has auctioned off 10 properties owned by people severely behind on their taxes.
It is the county’s hope that the homes will be back on the tax rolls with new owners, CBS reported.
One such house, on West Indian Lane in West Norriton, was put up for auction with a starting bid of $2,700, CBS said. It sold for $275,000.
Houses were sold “as is,” and the county thinks many of the buyers are investors looking to flip properties, CBS said.
The auction raised $450,000, CBS said, which will go toward delinquent county, school and local taxes.
