Pedestrian Injured In Manhole Cover Explosion In Ardmore: Lower Merion Township
Lower Merion Township said a "contained explosion" lifted the manhole cover where it injured a pedestrian.
UPDATE, 12:20 p.m.: Lower Merion Township said PECO hopes to have power fully restored to customers affected by a power outage Thursday morning by 9 p.m.
PECO said 67 customers in the area have been affected by the outage. The township said businesses and residents in the Ardmore, Lancaster, and Athens avenue area have been affected by the outage.
A 50-year-old woman has reportedly suffered a broken ankle after being hit by an manhole cover early Thursday morning in Ardmore, according to township officials.

A "contained explosion" occurred inside a manhole at the Ardmore and Lancaster avenue intersection in Ardmore at about 6 a.m., according to the township.
The township said PECO reported the woman suffered a broken ankle as a result of the manhole cover explosion.

PECO officials said police reported a pedestrian was injured in the area, but PECO did not confirm the injury was related to the incident.
Township officials said they do not have information on the woman's condition as of 11 a.m.
PECO said its is investigating the cause of the incident, saying a manhole cover can become dislodged for various reasons.
PECO said its crews are "moving as fast as possible" to make repairs to restore power to the affected businesses and residences.
