Police Follow Footprints to More Burglaries

Footprints in the snow lead police to two more burglaries.

Police Follow Footprints to More Burglaries
Police tracked footprints in the fresh snow from one burglary to two more nearby burglaries on Jan. 24.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a burglary in the 1200 block of Montgomery Avenue after a homeowner returned to discover a window and rear door open on the first floor of the house.

Police searched the home and discovered that several of the upstairs rooms had been ransacked.

The man reported that several small pieces of jewelry had been stolen, and the police also noticed fresh footprints in the home due to a recent snowfall.

Just two hours later, another homeowner in the 500 block of Hansel Road reported a burglary at his house at approximately 8:54 p.m.

The homeowner came home to discover the front door open with frame damage.

Police arrived on the scene and checked the home.  Once they discovered there was no one inside the owner reported that some jewelry had been taken from some of the upstairs rooms that had been ransacked.

While canvassing the neighborhood, a police officer noticed footprints in the backyard of the home on Hansel Road.

The officer followed the footprints to a home in the 500 block of Manor Rd. where a home was discovered with an open basement door with signs of force.

Police contacted the home owner who was out of state; however, police were able to determine that several rooms had been ransacked once the home had been cleared.
