Toy Gun Causes False Alarm in Belmont Hills

Police were called to an Ashland Avenue home Saturday afternoon.

Toy Gun Causes False Alarm in Belmont Hills

A Belmont Hills man carrying a toy gun on his property Saturday prompted a response by armed police after a worried neighbor didn't recognize it as fake, police said Monday.

Lower Merion officers were summoned after a resident of the 100 block of Ashland Avenue reported seeing a man carrying a gun nearby.

A Patch reader reported many officers were on the scene between 4:30 and 5 p.m. and at one point had guns trained on the man's house, including at least one officer with a rifle.

However, the fake was soon diagnosed as such, and no charges were believed to have been filed, police said/.
