N.J. Man Caught 'Red' Handed Making Illegal Bet

A New Jersey man was arrested for trying to cash in on a bet placed at a Sands Bethlehem Casino roulette table after the wheel had spun and bets were about to be paid, according to court records.

Jorge A. Pardiez, 54, of Kearny, was charged under Title 4 of the Amusements Act and released on $5,000 unsecured bail following his arrest by State Police gaming officers this morning.

Pardiez is accused of placing a black $100 chip on a red oval at a roulette wheel as the croupier was beginning to collect the losing bets from the table, according to the arrest warrant filed at the office District Judge Patricia Romig-Passaro, where Pardiez was arraigned.

The illegal “post bet” allegedly placed by Pardiez was brought to the attention of Sands security officials by the croupier and was later confirmed through video surveillance cameras, the court papers say.
