Police Crack Down on Rt. 378 Speeders

In one afternoon, Bethlehem Police wrote 20 tickets on Route 378 for aggressive driving, with the top speeder clocked at 86.2 mph.

Officers wrote the tickets for aggressive driving between 2:30-5:30 p.m. Dec. 11, according to city police. Among the citations, 15 were issued for speeding, one for following too closely, two for violating obedience to traffic control devices, one for violating protective equipment for motorcycles and one for lack of seatbelt use. 

The average speed of all the traffic timed on the highway was 62.3 mph. Of those drivers who were issued tickets, the average speed was 77.15 mph. 

The Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project is a statewide initiative that uses crash data to identify aggressive driving locations and target enforcement.
