Man Claims Public Urination Was Texting, Police Say

Lower Merion police relayed the following incidents to news media on Monday. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Public drunkenness: A 21-year-old St. Joe’s student was cited for public drunkenness around 1:59 on Nov. 21, police said.

Public drunkenness: An officer on patrol on Nov. 22 observed a man urinating on the lawn of a building on the 900 block of W Lancaster Ave. in Bryn Mawr, according to police. The officer stopped the man, but the man denied he had been urinating—instead, he told police, he had been texting. He was, however, standing next to a large puddle on the ground, police said. The 24-year-old man was arrested and cited for disorderly conduct and public drunkenness. His preliminary breath test issued a .14.

DUI and liquor law: An 18-year-old Wynnewood resident was charged with driving under the influence after being stopped in Bryn Mawr on Nov. 22, police said. At 3:58 a.m. a police officer on patrol observed a car drifting in traffic and putting on its turn signal to proceed straight, according to the report. The officer conducted a traffic stop and the vehicle driver, who registered a .174 on a blood alcohol test, was  cited for DUI and underage drinking.

Theft: Forty feet of copper downspouts, valued at $5,500 were stolen from a home on the 600 block of Spring Mill Road in Villanova between 3 p.m. on Nov. 23 and 12:28 p.m. on Nov. 24.

Public drunkenness: A 24-year-old West Conshohocken woman was cited for public drunkenness on Nov. 25, police said. An officer patrolling the area noticed the woman stumbling on Montgomery Ave. The officer was then approached by a taxi driver, who told police that the woman had exited the cab without paying her fare. The woman, police said, produced some money and handed it to the taxi driver. She refused to submit to a breath test, police said.
