Two men are accused of stealing a woman's purse while she stood inside Walmart waiting for heavy rains to stop. Police think the men have stolen other purses in Carnegie and North Fayette.

A woman standing inside waiting for a heavy rainstorm to pass had her purse snatched from her shopping car earlier this month.

said a man ran past the woman and nabbed the purse shortly before 10 p.m. Aug. 9.

The purse contained credit cards, which police said were later used to make illegal purchases elsewhere.

Scott police Chief Jim Secreet said investigators reviewed surveillance video of the incident and have two suspects in the theft. However, he did not name them because they have not been arrested, although he expected charges to be filed against the two men early next week.

Secreet said the pair is also being investigated for similar thefts at the Carnegie Bingo and Walmart in North Fayette. He said authorities from those three communities assisted each other to find the two men.

“Each of us had an incident in our town so we worked together on this to find them,” Secreet said.
