PHILADELPHIA, January 3, 2014 – Former governor Ed Rendell will be the featured speaker at the Speaker Series on the Hill at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 12 noon. Rendell will discuss issues confronting voters locally, regionally and nationally, and the qualities voters should seek in leaders at each of those levels.
Ed Rendell has served as two-term Governor of Pennsylvania (2003-2011), two-term Mayor of Philadelphia (1992-2000), and as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 Presidential election. He teaches government and politics courses at the University of Pennsylvania and is a Brookings Fellow. Rendell published his autobiography, A Nation of Wusses, in June 2012, and will be signing copies of his book after the discussion.
“We are excited Governor Rendell is returning to the Hill,” said Cynthia Jarvis, minister of The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. “His annual visits as Mayor to the Men's Luncheon, now the Speaker Series on the Hill, were always lively. No matter your politics, you can always count on being engaged by Ed Rendell’s take on the issues, and entertained by his disarming honesty.”
The monthly Speaker Series on the Hill meets at noon on the second Thursday at The Presbyterian Church of Chestnut Hill. Those attending are invited to bring a lunch and a friend. Cookies and coffee are provided. A $5 donation is requested.
