Hollywood to Host Premiere of Henrique Couto Film

The Pittsburgh-area premiere of Henrique Couto's film "Depression: The Movie" is at Hollywood Theater tonight.

Hollywood to Host Premiere of Henrique Couto Film

Dormont's Hollywood Theater will play host to two unique independent films today, Friday, one of which is a Pittsburgh-area premiere.

The first film, "Depression: The Movie," isn't as depressing as it sounds. This new, offbeat comedy from indie director Henrique Couto follows four down-on-their luck characters who struggle to make their way through life's obstacles.

A brief question-and-answer session with Couto will follow the film.

As part of the same event, Jeff Burr's rarely-shown film "Eddie Presley" also will be shown. The film about an ex-Elvis impersonator who gets a second chance is based on the play by Duane Whitaker.

Couto's previous films include the horror/comedy "Marty Jenkins and the Vampire Bitches" (2006); "Slay Ride," a contribution to the anthology "Faces of Schlock" (2009); and "Bleeding Through" (2012), which was shown earlier this year at the Horror Realm fall convention in Pittsburgh.

Jeff Burr has directed numerous horror sequels, such as Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings (1994), Leatherface: Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990), Stepfather II (1989), and two installments of the Puppet Master series.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and "Depression: The Movie" begins at 8 p.m. "Eddie Presley" will begin at 9:45 p.m. Admission is $10 and includes both films.

More information is available on The Hollywood Theater website.
