Mary Elizabeth 'Beth' Luce of Doylestown, died Tuesday, July 8, 2014. She was 55.
Born in Philadelphia, Beth was the daughter of the late Bernard J. Smolens.
Beth received her undergraduate degree from Connecticut College in 1980 and her law degree from Villanova University in 1983. After graduating from law school, Beth moved to Doylestown, where she lived and worked most of her adult life.
She served in the Bucks County District Attorney's Office before joining the law firm of Pratt, Brett, & Luce, where she worked for over 20 years.
Beth was an active member of her community, serving on the board of mental health advocacy group Voice and Vision, Inc. and was a member of La Salle College High School's Mothers Club. She was also an avid tennis fan, having played on Connecticut College's women's tennis team.
Beth is survived by her loving husband, William; her two sons: Maxwell and Nicholas; a sister Barbara Williams and a brother Michael Smolens, as well as numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass Friday, July 11, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 235 East State Street, Doylestown. Her funeral Mass will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow Mass in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont.
