Instagram 'Clown Threats' Not Credible: Central Bucks Police

Police may be canvassing school grounds after reports of clown threats throughout the region, Central Bucks school district officials say.

Local police say reports of "clown" threats through the social media site Instagram are not credible.

Central Bucks Regional Police Department say they've received reports of the threats over the popular social media site and continue to monitor the activity. But presently "there appears to be no credible threat."

Central Bucks School District officials are also monitoring the situation.

The announcement follows reports of teens making clown-related threats on social media in the Philadelphia and New Jersey area. In Philadelphia, a 13-year-old is accused of posting messages on social media that threatened school shootings and general violence.

And in South Jersey, a teen girl has been charged for making threatening clown-related threats through social media to her classmates over the past weekend.

"We encourage all students, parents, and community members to report any suspicious behavior to their local police and school authorities. As always maintaining a safe school environment is our main priority and we thank you for your cooperation in supporting a safe school climate," Kopicki said in the statement.
