Man Charged With Aggravated Assault While DUI In Crash That Closed Rt. 611 Tuesday

Breaking: The crash seriously injured a 60-year-old woman and closed the roadway for several hours as authorities investigated.

A man has been charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI in connection with an accident on Rt. 611 in Doylestown Township that seriously injured a 60-year-old woman Tuesday, according to the Bucks County District Attorney's office.

Authorities say Vicky Mazzocca was riding her motorcycle around 3 p.m. in the left southbound lane of Rt. 611 when she was hit from behind by a truck driven by Timothy Babbitt, 38, of Shamong, New Jersey.

Emergency responders removed Mazzocca from under Babbitt's work van, according to Robert D. James of the Bucks County District Attorney's office.

The Doylestown Township Police Department had probable cause to believe that the defendant was under the influence of alcohol and placed him under arrest, James said. Babbitt consented to a blood draw, and the evidence will be sent to the lab for testing.

Babbitt was charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, DUI and summary offenses. Bail was set at 10 percent of $200,000.

The southbound lanes of Rt. 611 were closed for several hours so the District Attorney’s Crash Investigation Team could reconstruct the crash, James said.

Mazzocca's condition was not immediately known, but authorities say her injuries were serious.
