Spanish Society of Doylestown Announces 2016-2017 Scholarship Finalists

Doylestown, Pa (February 20th, 2017)

Sociedad Hispana Doylestown, a tax-exempt Pennsylvania chartered corporation, awards scholarships annually to support its goal to facilitate intercultural understanding thru language, literature and the arts.

Seven finalists have been selected from 23 publicly available applications following oral and written testing.

For the year 2016-2017 the following students will share the $6,500 awarded scholarship.

Finalists are: Kyle Farrell & Shayna Fink (CB South), Abigail Goldstein & Gavin Rees (Germantown Academy), Daiana Loza (Council Rock South), Natalie Richardson & Ignacio Videla (Hunterdon Central)

On Wednesday April 26th, 2017, at 7:00pm, Sociedad Hispana Doylestown will announce the scholarship winners prior to screening the movie Metegol at The County Theater in Doylestown.

All finalists’ language achievements will be recognized financially on that date. Scholarship monies may be used for any higher educational purpose.

“By leveraging the 100-member base and soliciting corporate sponsors to support the Society’s goals, we expect to continue offering publicly available scholarships to high school seniors meeting established criteria,” said Scholarship Director Daisy Rodriguez-Kelly.

Donations from corporations and financial help from 100 Sociedad Hispana Doylestown members have generated $30,000 in scholarship funding in recent years.

Sociedad Hispana Doylestown was founded in 2007, when a small group of Bucks County residents saw the need for an organization dedicated to facilitating cross-cultural understanding among the Hispanic and Non-Hispanic communities, thru language, literature and the arts.
