From the large hand-cut steaks to their fall-off-the-bone ribs, this South-inspired restaurant serves up some serious comfort food.

After you park your car outside what looks like a rustic wooden cabin, you’ll open the door and hear country music blaring. Next, you’ll see a giant barrel of peanuts and a large glass showcase filled with slabs of raw, thick-cut meat. The walls are strewn with antlers and neon beer signs, and there are caricatures of music artists in cowboy hats. By this point, if you don’t like honky tonk tunes and a good steak, you should probably head for another restaurant, because Texas Roadhouse is all about the good ol’ South and good ol’ eats.

Before a staff member brings you to your table, they’ll grab a basket of warm glazed rolls with cinnamon butter (which are indescribably amazing) for you to devour while you look over the menu. To stay true to the Southern-American feel, the Roadhouse menu features “Country Dinners” like Grilled Pork Chops and Country Fried Steak. There’s also a handful of chicken platters (like Smothered and Grilled BBQ), a slew of sandwiches (including cheeseburgers, pulled pork, and chicken), and a few seafood and salad options. 

And have I mentioned steak yet? The Roadhouse features 10 different cuts like the New York Strip, Texas T-Bone, and Dallas Filet, and if you’re serious about your meat, you can choose your own steak from the glass showcase of meat.

The best part is while you’re enjoying your good ol’ eats, you’ll get to watch intervals of country line dancing from the wait staff.

My meal: A 6-ounce sirloin steak (cooked medium) with green beans and a vegetable medley (yes, I love me some vegetables). The steak was cooked perfectly, but needed a little more flavor, and the vegetables were delicious. In the end I’d give it a 4.5/5, but those rolls are so amazing I’m knocking it up to a 4.7/5.

And get this! If you go Monday through Thursday before 6 p.m., you can choose from 10 dinners and “early dine” for $7.99!
