The book "Prep" stirring controversy in the East Penn School District has been pulled from shelves in a California school because of its sexual content.

over an optional book - "Prep" - on the summer reading list isn't the first time the best seller has stirred controversy among parents.

East Penn School Board member on Monday from the program after two parents complained about in the story of a college student trying to fit in with her peers. Parents highlighted raunchy passages from the book and showed them to the school board, calling the content pornography.

Here are two other cases involving "Prep" from a 2009 report on Banned Book Week:

2009: Pulled from the accelerated reading program in the Heritage Oak School in Yorba Linda (CA). A parent complained that the book was "pornographic."

The American Library Association tracks cases of access being limited to controversial books.

The motion to pull "Prep" from the optional summer reading list will be on the school board agenda at its Sept. 24 meeting.
