Synagogues Ready for Jewish New Year

Rosh Hashana services celebrating the high holiday begin at sundown on Sunday.

Synagogues Ready for Jewish New Year

Local synagogues are preparing for Rosh Hashana, the Jewish high holiday that celebrates the new year.

The holiday begins on Sunday at sundown. It is a time for Jews to begin introspection and look back at the mistakes of the past year while planning the changes to make in the new year.

There are a number of synagogues in the East End and East Suburbs, including:

  • Oakland: Rodef Shalom, Young Peoples Synagogue/Bohnai Yisrael

The Jewish Federation of Greater Pittsburgh provides this detailed list of services and other holiday observances for many of the congregations above. To access the list, click here.
