U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive with Wilkinsburg Ties in Butler

Darnell Bouie, who last lived in Turtle Creek and was wanted on charges stemming from a murder in Clarksburg, WV, was apprehended Friday morning.

U.S. Marshals Arrest Fugitive with Wilkinsburg Ties in Butler

Friday morning in Butler, the U.S. Marshals Service Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force arrested Darnell Carlton Bouie, a man with local ties, who was wanted for murder in West Virgini.

Members of the task force, along with Butler police, arrested Bouie at 9:30 a.m. this morning without incident at a residence in the 300 block of East Locust Street. Bouie, 35, and a co-defendant, Ennis Charles  “E.C.”  Payne, were charged on Sept. 17 by the Clarksburg (WV) Police Department with first degree murder.

Bouie and Payne are accused in the Jan. 13, 2010 shooting death of Jayar Poindexter in Clarksburg.  The homicide is alleged to have occurred during an attempt to burglarize his residence.  

Bouiey, who also used the name "John Lamar Brinson," is originally from the Pittsburgh and was last known to reside in Turtle Creek. He was also known to frequent the Wilkinsburg, Homewood and Homestead areas.  

The U.S. Marshals Northern District of West Virginia Mountain State Fugitive Task Force was actively investigating Bouie's whereabouts at the request of the Clarksburg Police and developed information he was in the Butler area. Bouie’s co-defendant Payne was arrested previously on Sept. 18 by the Mountain State task force and Clarksburg police at a residence in Clarksburg.

Following his arrest, Bouie was arraigned as a fugitive from justice by District Magistrate Sue Haggerty and held without bond. He was lodged at the Butler County Jail pending extradition to Clarksburg. 

The Western Pennsylvania Fugitive Task Force is made up of the following member agencies: U.S. Marshals, Pennsylvania State Police, Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, Westmoreland County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Attorney’s Office.
