Haverford SD Holding Critical Inicident Response Plan Meeting Tuesday

The community is invited to attend to learn how to become a critical incident volunteer in Delaware County.

The School District of Haverford Township is hosting an informational meeting to inform the public of how it and Delaware County handle critical incidents, according to a district press release. The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 4 and will be held in the Haverford High School Auditorium, 1701 Upper Darby Road, Havertown.

Attendees will learn specifically about the Strategic National Stockpile program, which is managed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS) is the nation's repository of of antibiotics, vaccines, chemical antidotes, antitoxins, and other critical medical equipment and supplies that can be dispersed in as little as 12 hours in the event of a bioterrorism attack or a natural pandemic, according to the district.

The district said the meeting will help the community learn about the SNS on federal, state, and county levels; the role of the Point of Dispensing (POD) and overview of the POD Plan; staffing requirements and potential roles for volunteers; future training opportunities; and how to become a SNS volunteer.
