Haverford Upgrades its Snow Removal Equipment

Haverford Upgrades its Snow Removal Equipment

The Haverford Township Board of Commissioners voted to improve the township's snow removal equipment with the purchase of some new equipment at its October meeting.

The Commissioners voted to approve spending $173,496 on a 2012 Caterpillar bucket, which will be used to assist in township snow removal and leaf collection, according to township manager Larry Gentile.

"We already have one of these and we use it about eight hours a day," he said. "We can use it to remove all the leaves when we do leaf collection, we use it to load salt in to trucks, and, basically, we can use it to clear parking lots, especially when we have a great deal of snow."

The township purchased the equipment from a West Chester company. The exchange included a trade-in on the township's old model of construction equipment.
