Lansdale Police have arrested and charged a third suspect for his alleged involvement in the Hen's Coins and Collectables robbery in Lansdale.
Anthony Joseph Hughes, 25, of the unit block of West Third Street, Lansdale, was arrested and charged Jan. 29 with the following offenses:
- Felony hindering apprehension or prosecution
- Misdemeanor tampering with physical evidence
- Misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance
- Misdemeanor possession of marijuna
Hughes was arraigned before District Judge Harold Borek, who set bail at $25,000 cash, police said. Hughes is currently incarcerated at Montgomery County prison.
A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 14 before Borek, police said.
Lansdale Police said an investigation continued after the arrests of Michael Creciun and Gene Kulp for the Jan. 21 robbery of Hen's Coins and Collectables, police said.
During a search warrant on the home of Creciun and Kulp, police found an empty Ruger .40-caliber gun case, along with a receipt dated Jan. 21 from a purchase from a local gun ship, police said.
Robbery suspect Creciun was named as the purchaser, police said.
Police said Creciun allegedly called Hughes asking for a ride. Hughes arrived a short time later and allegedly drove Creciun and Kulp back to Hughes' apartment, police said.
Hughes then allegedly drove both suspects to the Acme, where coins taken in the robbery were exchanged for cash at a Coinstar machine, police said.
Detectives viewed Acme surveillance video, which allegedly showed Hughes and Creciun entering the Acme together, police said.
On Jan. 29, police executed a search warrant on Hughes's apartment in order to locate a missing gun and knife, police said.
Information was obtained during the search that indicated after the robbery, Creciun allegedly left both the gun and knife in Hughes's apartment, police said.
Further investigation revealed Hughes allegedly got rid of the gun and knife in a Dumpster at a Hatfield Township apartment complex, police said.
Detectives searched the Dumpster, but trash collection had already occurred, police said.
During the search of Hughes's apartment, police found marijuana, police said.
