National Guard Assisting Police in Bristol Township

A curfew is in effect in the township.

National Guard Assisting Police in Bristol Township

Officials in Bristol Township have implemented a curfew from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

The curfew will affect mainly "pedestrian traffic and continue until all commercial power service has been restored, the police department posted online.

Bristol officials requested that National Guard units help local police patrol the township, Emergency Management Coordinator Kevin Dippolito told Philly.com.

The units were requested to curb possible looting that officials feared could happen, PhillyBurbs .com reported.

Police Chief James McAndrew told Philly.com that his department had responded to several burglaries and attempted burglaries. Almost all of which began just after Hurricane Sandy's effects began to deteriorate.

The storm also kept local fire and EMS crews busy overnight.
