Development Road Improvement Issues Ongoing

According to a report in The Sanatoga Post, road repairs are under way on Rupert Road near the Links at Raven's Claw on the Lower Pottsgrove side of the road.

Similar repairs in the Limerick Township part of the development are still waiting to be completed.

Back in June, the Limerick Township Board of Supervisors Links developer Dewey Homes, LP in default because they had failed to make promised road improvements and did not have the escrow funds necessary to do those improvements.

Patch followed up with township solicitor Joseph McGrory to see what is going on in Limerick's part of the development.

"Lower Pottsgrove's side is 100 percent complete, that's why their roads are getting done," McGrory said. "The side in Limerick still has lots that aren't built on."

McGrory told Patch that after Dewey was notified of the default, they started negotiating with the township with regard to the improvements.

Dewey asked the township to take the road via dedicatoin, but the township is reluctant to do so before construction in the development is finished.

McGrory said that because a new roadway could be prone to damage from construction trucks, the township wants Dewey or the other developer of the subdivision, Rouse Chamberlain Homes, to be responsible for future damage if they take dedication of the road now.

"The other developer, Rouse, has a clause in their contract with Dewey that prevents dedication of roads, so we're trying to work something out between the two developers," McGrory said.
