Royersford Police To Accept Old Prescription Drugs

Royersford Police and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are installing a drug disposal box.

ROYERSFORD, PA -- Royersford Police and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are installing a drug disposal box at the Royersford police station.

The initiative, which has partnered with Pennsylvania American Water, will offer Royersford's first safe and secure location for the public to dispose of unwanted and expired prescription drugs, the DA said.

This will be the 32nd box created as part of the Prescription Drug Disposal Program int eh county.

"The growing epidemic and opioid abuse in our communities is linked, in many cases, to accessibility to prescription drugs by youths," said First District Attorney Edward F. McCann in a press release. "This program seeks to reduce that accessibility while disposing of unwanted and expired medications in an environmentally safe way."

The official launch of the program will take place on March 29.
