Rear-End Crash Causes Neck Injury, Police Say

An Allentown-area woman recently received a neck injury when her car was struck from behind at an intersection in Lower Macungie Township, police said.

Judith E. Urquizo, 51, was stopped at a red light at Hamilton Boulevard and Interstate 78 at 10:17 a.m. Feb. 4, according to state police at Fogelsville. Her Honda Civic was hit by a car traveling behind her.

The second vehicle, a Chevrolet Malibu driven by Gladys J. Santee, 86 of Orwigsburg, Schuylkill County, police said. She was unable to stop in time, crashing into Urquizo's car and causing the whiplash-type injury.

Urquizo was transported to a hospital by Macungie Ambulance Corps, complaining of neck pain, police said.

Neither Santee nor her passenger, Nancy A. Erdman, 79, were injured, police said.

Santee will be cited for driving at an unsafe speed, police said.
