Woman Swaps Price Stickers at Walmart, Police Say

Police say a Montgomery County woman swapped price stickers and got a computer for the cost of a storage box at Walmart in Lower Macungie Township.

Theresa L. Wampole, 49, of Perkiomenville removed a label from a storage tote and placed it over the one on a computer box between 3 and 3:15 p.m. March 24, according to state police at Fogelsville.

The storage tote label was used to pay for the computer as if it were the price of the storage tote, police said. She then tried to leave the store at 1091 Mill Creek Road.

Wampole fled in an unknown direction. Police did not say whether she had the computer when she fled, nor did they provide the retail value of the item.

Wampole has not been charged in the incident, according to online court records; however, police issued a recent news release on the alleged incident. They say the investigation continues.
