Lower Moreland Student To Hold Teen Fashion Show for Charity
Ali Shain, a junior at LMHS, has organized "Worn with Love Fundraiser Fashion Show," which will take place on Monday, Sept. 19, in the community room above the HV Library.

Ali Shain is determined to make a difference. Not one to sit back and wait for someone else to do it, she’s decided that she is going to “StandUp for Kids.”
Combining her love of fashion with her desire to help kids, the Lower Moreland High School Junior has organized a “Worn with Love Fundraiser Fashion Show.” On Monday, Ali will be hosting a teen fashion show with help from Salon La Vogue who will be donating their time and talent to raise money for StandUp for Kids. Ali has put together 30 outfits, made mostly from donated clothing and accessories, that will be modeled by about 13 teens from the area. Volunteer models include Lower Moreland students, as well as some from Council Rock School District.
“This is about helping other teens,” said Shain.

Tickets are $10 at the door, with proceeds going to StandUp For Kids -- a national organization whose mission is to help homeless and street kids. With the help of volunteers, they carry out the group’s mission by going to the streets in order to find, stabilize and otherwise help homeless and street kids improve their lives.
“I’ve always wanted to do something for kids that don’t have the things I’m fortunate enough to have. And, I’d like to study fashion for a career. So I thought I’d combine the two. My parents had my back one-hundred percent and they helped me organize this event,” Shain said of the fashion show, which will be held in the Lower Moreland Community Room (Above the Huntingdon Valley Library), 640 Red Lion Road, on Monday, Sept. 19 from 7 to 9:30 p.m.

“Sometimes people don’t think that teenagers can make a difference. They underestimate us, they think we live in a bubble,” said Shain. “Teens are the future. When we get involved we can help, and it’s a great feeling.”
