Romney 'Victims' Video Shot at 76ers Co-Owner Marc Leder's Home

Leder hosted $50,000-per-person fundraiser during which Romney called 47 percent of voters 'victims.'

Gov. Mitt Romney said in a video recently released by liberal magazine Mother Jones that 47 percent of American voters consider themselves "victims."

"There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what," said Romney in the video. "All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you-name-it. That that’s an entitlement. And the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what… These are people who pay no income tax.”

These comments were made at the home of 76ers co-owner Marc Leder. Leder hosted a $50,000-per-person fundraiser at his Boca Raton, Fla., home on May 17, according to a report on Philly.com.

Leder, who became a co-owner on Oct. 17, 2011, owns the team with co-managing owner David Blitzer, CEO Adam Aron, Martin Geller, David Heller, Travis Hennings, James Lassiter, Jason Levien, Michael Rubin, Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Leder owns a financial buyout firm called Sun Capital Partners, says an article in The Daily Pennsylvanian. He is a Wharton graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, class of 1983, according to the article.

President Barack Obama's campaign offices have called the video "shocking" in a statement released to the press. Romney's campaign has confirmed the video is genuine.

“It’s not elegantly stated, let me put it that way,” Romney said at an impromptu press conference late last night. The press conference can be seen on 6ABC.com. “Of course individuals are going to take responsibility for their life, and my campaign is about helping people take more responsibility and becoming employed again.”
