Robert Copeland is Neshaminy School District's new superintedent. He follows in the shoes of Louis Muenker, who retired in June after 20 years of service in the district.

Copeland, who was elected by the Neshaminy School Board Wednesday night in a special public meeting, comes to Neshaminy after serving about 11 years at the Piscataway School District in New Jersey.

"I am so much looking forward to coming to work here in Neshaminy," Copeland said after the board unanimously approved the motion to hire him.

In addition, Copeland said that he looks at serving as Neshaminy's superintendent as a "stewardship" and is looking forward to "moving the district forward."

Copeland participated in a in which he communicated that he is a hands-on leader who likes to make sure beneficial district and school policies and programs do not dissolve.

A "listening tour" is Copeland's first line of business, he said.

"The beginnings are about getting to know everyone on a one-on-one basis," he said to Patch.

"It's a new beginning," board member Mark Shubin said of Copeland joining the district, adding that Copeland is a "data-driven leader" and "CEO-type of superintedent."

"I think he's the right guy at the right time," Shubin said.
