A handful of thefts have occurred at the Marple Walmart in February.

SPRINGFIELD–On Feb. 19 at approximately 11:40 a.m., Marple police responded to the Walmart in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported theft. According to the report, the store officer reported that she observed a woman walk into the store and proceed to the pet department. The woman then selected various items and went to the customer service counter to attempt to return the items. According to the report, the customer service representative refused the return item because the woman did not have the receipt. The woman then went back into the store and selected more items into a shopping cart. The woman then proceeded to a checkout register and paid for several gray plastic Totes. The woman never emptied the remains of the cart and after paying for the Totes, she attempted to walk out of the store, according to the report. The store officer was able to stop the woman and discovered six boxes of Legos that were concealed and had not been purchased, according to the report. The total value of items stolen was $778.21. 

More Items Stolen at Walmart

On Feb. 14 at approximately 9:15 p.m., police responded to the Walmart for a reported theft. Upon arrival, police met with the store officer who stated that a woman had selected multiple items marked for sale, placed them into a Walmart shopping bag, placed the bag in a cart, and proceeded to pass all points of sale, and exited the building failing to pay for any of the items, according to the report. The store officer was able to stop the woman at the entrance.

On Feb. 5 at approximately 6:30 p.m., police responded to the Walmart for what police called a reported retail theft suspect in custody. Upon arrival, police located the woman in the security office. According to the report, the store officer advised police that she apprehended the woman after observing her select items of merchandise, conceal them and exit without paying for those items. The total value of items stolen was $191.51.

On Feb. 4 at approximately 6:16 p.m., police responded to a retail theft at Walmart. Upon arrival, the store officer told police the total value of items of merchandise stolen was $38.32. No prior retail theft convictions were reported from the woman. 

Woman Steals Multiple Items of Makeup, Shoves Store Officer Against a Wall

On Feb. 2 at approximately 5:45 p.m., police responded to Walmart for a report of a violent shoplifter assaulting the store security. Upon arrival, police was directed to the security office and spoke to the store security officer who told police that the woman had concealed items inside her purse and passed all points of sale. When the store officer attempted to stop her, the woman began pushing past the officer and shoved her into a wall. According to the report, a second security officer arrived on scene and struggled with the woman. The store officers were eventually able to move the woman into the store office where she still refused to allow security to look into her purse, according to the report. Police advised the woman she was under arrest for assaulting the store officer and told her to hand over the purse. At this time, the woman clutched her purse tighter and responded, “no,” according to the report. Police attempted to lift the woman off of the chair and place her in handcuffs to which she started to struggle. Another officer from Upper Providence Police Department also responded to the scene to help assist the officer at which time the woman dropped to the floor and covered up her hands and purse, according to the report. Police were eventually able to handcuff the woman. Numerous items of makeup were removed from the woman’s purse, which were identified by the store officer as items from Walmart. The total value of stolen merchandise was $88.83.
