Monday's storm was worse than expected, with many areas now expected to receive 8 inches of snow, up from the predicted 4 to 6 inches.
The snowfall was extremely heavy at times, with rates of up to 2 inches per hour,
the National Weather Service said. The snowfall is expected to taper off to flurries by mid-afternoon.
A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Monday.
