Crescent Manager Resigns, Commissioners to Advertise Position

Crescent Commissioners voted unanimously Thursday night to accept the resignation of its Secretary and Manager Patience Eckhardt.

Eckhardt tendered her resignation as of Wednesday, July 9, but commissioners offered no comment on the matter, referring all questions to Solicitor Richard Start.

Earlier this year, Pittsburgh-based attorney Charles Steele, who is representing Eckhardt, filed an intake form—a preliminary step—with the  Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on behalf of Eckhardt regarding a "hostile work environment claim."

Mediation involving the complaint took place this week and a settlement was reached, but according to Start, documents have not yet been finalized.

Commissioners unanimously approved an advertisement to fill the open manager position.

The board also approved a motion to explore its hiring options in the interim to provide assistant secretary Kellie Crago with some help.

Bill Cook, commissioners president, said there are three companies that offer temporary services and officials will examine the costs to try and get someone in as soon as possible.

Commissioners also accepted the resignations of part-time patrolmen Brian Brooks and Antonino Balsamo.
