Piccolo Burglar Caught on Camera, Police Seek Public's Help Identifying Suspect

Newtown Township Police have released surveillance video footage of a burglary that occurred early Wednesday at Piccolo Trattoria on West Road.

A man, who was captured on video yanking the cash register from the restaurant's counter, stole the $3,000 register, which also contained $350 in cash, police said.

Police released this surveillance video Wednesday night of the crime in progress.

Officers arrived at the restaurant at 4:25 a.m. Wednesday in response to an alarm. When officers arrived, the window of the front door was broken and two tables had been overturned. The cash register on the front counter had been ripped out and removed.

Security video captured images of a white male wearing jeans, a button-down shirt and a baseball cap inside the restaurant just before alarm was activated.

Piccolo Trattoria is located in the shopping center a few doors down from Acme.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the crime should call Detective Harris at 215-579-1000 ext 229.
