Fire Department Makes Quick Work of Basin Street Blaze

The Norristown Fire Department responded to a report of a fire on the back porch of a home on the 400 block of Basin Street on Friday.

The Norristown Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of East Basin Street shortly before 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31 for a report of a house fire. Once on the scene, firefighters discovered heavy smoke coming from the rear of the home.

The fire was actually an external fire on the rear porch of 401 East Basin Street and the blaze was brought under control in a quick manner with only minor damage to the interior of the home. No one was reported injured in the incident.

The cause of the fire has not yet been reported, but according to a report from the Norristown Police Department, investigators do not suspect foul play.
