Plymouth Road to Close for Emergency Sinkhole Repair

Plymouth Road will be closed and detoured between Interstate 476 and Butler Pike in Plymouth Township.

Plymouth Road will be closed and detoured between Interstate 476 and Butler Pike in Plymouth Township, beginning at 6 p.m. Thursday for emergency sinkhole repair, PennDOT announced.

“A sink hole has opened in the creek bed that has undermined the wing wall and abutment on the bridge over the Plymouth Creek. Crews will begin tomorrow morning to divert the creek and dewater the sink hole. A consultant will do a geological survey to determine the extent of the sink hole and repairs necessary to stabilize the structure,” PennDOT said in a statement.

During the closure, Plymouth Road through traffic will be detoured over Germantown Pike and Joshua Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.
