McKnight Butcher Shop Sets Opening Day for Friday

Mr. Butcher, the long awaited Kosher and local organic meats shop on McKnight Road, is expected to open Friday, said its manager Jay Mahood.

"Things are progressing. All the permits are done," he said.

He said he is waiting on one final walk-through by Ross Township's building and zoning official, which is scheduled for Tuesday.

Of course—he warned Monday—things could change. But as of right now, he plans to have a soft opening Friday, operating on normal business hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

He said he expects to have chicken, lamb, goat and beef for sale.

The new shop is located at 7777 McKnight Road and has 2,000-square-feet of space.

Mahood said he plans to offer meats prepared according to Jewish dietary laws as well as local organic meats from farms around the Pittsburgh area.

The Kosher meats and cheeses will be shipped in from three companies in New Jersey and New York and sold pre-packaged, he said, declining to go into more specifics until the shop is ready for business.

"Folks won't be disappointed," he has promised.
