First an elementary school for decades, then the temporary home of a Greek Orthodox Church, now the next chapter in the life of Northway Elementary is about to be written. 

The  Monday night of the approximately 6.5 acre site to LRC Development Company of Akron, Ohio for $2,460,000. 

At Monday’s meeting, North Hills Finance and Operations Director David Hall told the board it could take up to a year for the deal to close, but the district would start collecting non-refundable deposits from the buyer as the process continued. 

But what the new owner has planned for the property remains a mystery. 

“We don’t know, and we probably won’t know until the new owner presents a plan to the zoning board,” said Hall. “We do know it’s a commercial development, but that’s about it.” 

The old school is currently the temporary home of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, while the church’s  at the intersection of Babcock Boulevard and Cumberland Road in McCandless. 

The Church is hoping to move into its permanent home in spring of 2013.
