It's the last festival of the year.
And Brian Lokitis, organizer of the Forks Township Community Days, is hoping it's one of the best.
Community Days takes place this Saturday and Sunday with the event featuring everything from food to fireworks.
Lokitis, serving in his third year as organizer, is pulling out all of the stops to make it have "something for everyone."
He tried to even add a Ferris wheel. Maybe next year.
One big change this year is the festival centering around the amphitheater, so Lokitis had to make some adjustments. The change will allow organizers to use part of the community park that's closer to the township's administrative offices and fire station.
"I'm feeling better," Lokitis said. "I was a little nervous about the layout. But we did a walkthough and it went really well. It should flow pretty nicely."
The festival will feature a balloon launch, have a soccer game for people age 30 and over and see the return of a Karaoke contest from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. Prizes will be given away for different age brackets.
"It was really popular a few years ago," Lokitis said. "So we're bringing it back."
Lokitis said there are more vendors this year than last. He added that T-shirts will be tossed to people in the audience watching some of the music acts.
Another change is with the beer tent. Last year, people could buy beer but it had to be contained to a fenced in area. This year, people can carry their beer throughout the event.
Lokitis said will be sponsoring mugs and pitchers with the Big Woody's and Forks Township logos.
Some other new things, "cool things" Lokitis said, will also be featured like a helicopter landing and a Bingo tent. And the fire company will hold an open house.
"I'm always nervous," he said. "You want it to be great. It's really about the township and giving people in the community something that they want."
Forks Community Days will be held from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday.
